Q. Please tell us about Volta Corporation!

“Our goal is to resolve all issues related to tax invoices.”

Have you ever heard the saying, “The only thing humans cannot avoid is taxes”? If so, what is the one thing a corporation cannot avoid? It’s the “tax invoice.” I imagine that everyone reading this interview has probably experienced the challenges of issuing and managing tax invoices at least once.

Volta Corporation (hereinafter "Volta") aims to resolve all issues related to tax invoices. Currently, more than 400 clients—including tax firms, small and medium-sized enterprises, startups, and sole proprietors—are using Volta to streamline their operations.

Q. Why did you decide to start a business in the field of tax invoice SaaS, which is somewhat complex and specialized?

“I realized that tax invoices are an issue faced by all companies and organizations, regardless of industry or size.”

I’ve worked in a variety of industries, starting as an investment analyst and moving into business development. Whether at large corporations or public institutions, I’ve seen companies of all kinds face issues related to tax invoices. However, most of these problems stemmed from human error or miscommunication, and I believed these errors could be resolved through IT solutions.

Since I needed to be sure, I created a landing page before launching the business to gauge customer interest. With the message, “Would you like to try a service that lets you issue tax invoices without a digital certificate?” I received 200 early-access applications. All in just one week!

Q. “Issuing tax invoices without a digital certificate”… That reminds me of Toss, which started with “money transfers without a digital certificate”! What did you focus on most when you first launched your business?

“After focusing on developing core features, we conducted customer interviews every day.”

For three weeks, we focused on developing our core feature: making it easy to issue tax invoices. Once development was complete, we conducted customer interviews every day. As a result, our user base and the number of invoices issued doubled every month. I believe we grew organically because this was such a major pain point in the industry. Haha 😃

Volta's Beginnings, First Marketing Efforts

Q. What challenges did you face after launching Volta?

“It was important to find a reliable partner.”

Volta plans to operate as a small team for the time being. We’ve decided that it’s more efficient to outsource tasks that can be handled by experts. Since I’m serving as both the CEO and the project manager, we’re currently facing a severe shortage of resources.

Marketing is a crucial area for early-stage startups, so we were in desperate need of a reliable marketing expert. While we were struggling to find a trustworthy partner, we met Yeji from Elephant Company through our connection with Spring Camp, a member of the Spring Camp family.

Q. How do you remember Elephant Company and Volta’s first meeting?

I feel truly at ease. (I can’t quite put it into words… but I really felt at ease.) I feel incredibly reassured because the CEO and team members at Elephant Company proactively consider the issues I need to address and the preparations we need to make for Next, and they work with me through the decision-making process. I also feel that they have a deep understanding of our service and the problems Volta fundamentally solves.

I was also surprised by the high quality of the content Elephant planned and produced—it was so well-crafted that it didn’t require any review. Since Volta focuses on the specific field of tax invoices, we’re developing content that provides practical information for accounting professionals. Tax invoices are a specialized area that even those with experience in accounting or finance find difficult to grasp fully, but Elephant consistently impresses me with content that’s so accurate it doesn’t need fact-checking and is explained so clearly that anyone can understand it.

In addition, when we review our monthly marketing results, they suggest ways to use our content to improve efficiency even further. We have great confidence in them in this regard as well.

Volta's Content Growth Strategy and Results

Q. Is there a specific reason you chose the Content Growth Marketing Plan from among the various plans?

“I’m pleased that we can measure everything from traffic generated through search engine optimization (SEO) to conversion results.”

Volta chose a content growth plan that covers everything from marketing strategy to content planning, production, and data analysis. Since our team was eager to gain data insights, a plan that provided everything from marketing strategy to a data insights dashboard made perfect sense.

In particular, I’m pleased that it doesn’t just show basic data overviews, but actually measures everything from traffic acquisition to conversion rates through search engine optimization (SEO). About two months after setting up the dashboard, we were able to start making data-driven decisions.

Volta has recently transitioned to a paid service, and we have requested an additional dashboard. Since this transition is a crucial milestone for the Volta team, we aim to quickly gain data insights and improve efficiency.

Q. Which marketing channel was the most effective?

“Of course! Search engine optimization is the most effective.”

When we were redesigning our website, Elephant Company helped us improve our site plan by incorporating search engine optimization (SEO). Thanks to our proactive SEO efforts—which allowed us to respond faster than our potential competitors—we’re still seeing an increase in organic traffic, and I believe we’ve secured a competitive advantage.

We also see a high percentage of traffic coming from blog content. Since the site redesign, we’ve carefully planned content related to tax invoices. Thanks to this, Volta has managed to dominate search results for “tax invoices.” We’ve also secured the Google snippet spot. I think this will put even more pressure on our competitors.

Q. What if there hadn't been an elephant next to Volta…? What do you think would have happened? Haha

“I imagine you must have faced a lot of challenges in actually carrying out the marketing.”

Perhaps… we weren’t able to plan and produce content in-house. Yejie from Elephant mentioned that Volta needs at least one marketer on staff to generate synergy in content marketing. We are currently actively recruiting B2B marketers for Volta. (Join the Volta Team)

Q. Who would you recommend content growth marketing to?

“If you want to acquire potential customers online”

I urge you to get started right now, as you’re reading this. That’s the only way to quickly attract even a single lead. Especially with SEO, where getting a head start is crucial, starting tomorrow will be too late. Volta has been focusing on SEO since the very beginning of our service, so we’ve seen tangible results firsthand.
