[Ahrefs Evolve 2024] 5 Recommended Must-Use Services for Overseas Business Trips (otter, gpt, notion, triple, Klook)

3–5 minutes

Last October, the Elifunt team went on our first overseas business trip. We went to attend Ahrefs Evolve 2024 in Singapore. As it was our first trip abroad, we were just as worried as we were excited. With the entire event conducted in English, we wondered if we would be able to listen to and absorb the lectures, and if we could quickly share the vivid information we gathered on-site with those back home.

Once I actually arrived at the venue, I returned to Korea having spent a valuable time that made my pre-departure worries seem completely unfounded. There were unsung heroes who helped make this overseas business trip a success.

Here are 5 services that have been reliable assistants for the Elifunt Team's overseas business trips!

1. Otter.ai – A voice transcription service that lets you speak English without worry

My biggest concern during my overseas business trip was the language barrier. Otter.aiwas a great help. Thanks to it converting the lecture content into text in real time, I was able to instantly check the exact details and understand the lectures in greater depth.

In particular, some words were not accurately transcribed due to the distance between the stage and the audience, but the feature that auto-completes words by understanding the context of the sentence was quite impressive. Upon reviewing the session, I found the accuracy to be high as well.

You can use 300 minutes a month even with the free plan, so if you are curious, I think it would be a good idea to try it out yourself.

2. Notion + Woopie – Real-time business trip log

Listening to sessions by seasoned SEO experts, including Ahrefs, I naturally realized that we have been living in a bubble. As I heard vivid insights on how SEO is evolving, the direction we should be heading, and how overseas companies operate—information that is difficult to find domestically—it suddenly struck me that it would be great to share this with many people in real time.

We decided to connect Notion and Woopie for distribution to easily gather and share materials on-site . The Elifunt team also uses Notion for our daily work; it is also an excellent editing platform for writing content. Thanks to Notion, I was able to quickly organize the content while listening to the lectures during the two days of the event.

Notion is available for use with a free version, and if you need team collaboration or frequent file uploads, you can utilize a paid plan (starting at 14,000 won per month).

I organized the content while listening to the session and compiled it in real-time using Notion.

While Notion pages can be shared externally on their own, connecting Oopy allows you to link your desired domain and create CTA buttons, making your Notion page look more like a website. You can also easily perform tasks that are difficult to do with Notion alone, such as editing HTML and integrating with external marketing tools like GA4 and ChannelTalk through plugins.

Utilizing Notion's database features to structure various session contents in an easy-to-read format, and having changes reflected in real-time, was a huge help. On top of that, using the statistics provided by Woopie to see how many people were viewing the page allowed me to confirm once again the strong interest in SEO.

I recommend this to those who, like the Elifunt Team, already have a website but need a separate event page, as well as to those who are just starting to build a website.

You can use Woopie with a paid plan (starting at 5,900 won per month) after a one-week free trial.

3. GPT, Claude – An AI assistant that handles everything from translation and summarization to tone and style checks

I mentioned that I transcribed the session content using Otter and shared it in real-time via Notion and Woopie Pages. However, there was actually one more step required in between: translating and summarizing the session content. Since Ahrefs Evolve 2024 was a global event, all sessions were conducted in English. Once Otter transcribed the entire session content in English, I needed to translate it and summarize it appropriately for sharing.

ChatGTP took charge of this task. It quickly translated even long English texts, making it easy to grasp the insights from the session. Claude handled the summary writing of the translated manuscript. Since Claude is better suited for logical and natural writing compared to ChatGPT, the Elifunt team often divides the roles of its AI assistants in this way. 🙂

GPT offers a basic free version, and if you use the paid plan for $20 a month, you can utilize the advanced features of the latest version, GPT-4.

4. Triple – A travel planner that displays business trip schedules at a glance

Ahrefs Evolve 2024 was held in Singapore. Since I traveled such a long way, I couldn't miss out on sightseeing. I used Triple , which allows you to easily manage both your business trip and sightseeing itineraries all at once

With Triple, you can easily grasp your travel route at a glance by selecting your accommodations, restaurants, and tourist attractions on a map to check travel distances, times, and methods. The invitation feature also made it convenient to share information with team members.

The Elifunt team only entered the accommodation and seminar venue, and selected recommended restaurants or tourist attractions on-site. We could also trust the reviews more because we could check everything from blogs to feedback from Triple members!

5. Klook – Solve communication, transportation, and activities all at once

I used an e-SIM for the first time on this trip. Unlike a physical SIM card that needs to be swapped out, I found that I could use data and make calls locally with just a simple setup on my mobile phone. Since I could continue using my existing line from Korea, I also made sure not to miss any calls coming from back home.

This business trip involved leaving the airport at 5 AM the next day after working in Korea just the day before! Thanks to the help of these five services, even someone like me—who has terrible English—was able to successfully wrap up my first overseas conference. If this is your first time going on an overseas business trip, you might be feeling apprehensive about whether you can do well. If you cannot improve your English skills in a short period of time, try checking out these services and preparing in advance while you are still in Korea. It will be an opportunity to grow a step further with your reliable personal assistants by your side!
